A classic messenger bag which is really popular is the one created by a company from San Francisco. The Timbuk2 messenger bag has been developed over the last 20 years and comes from the streets of San Francisco and all the cycle messengers who work there cycling around delivering packages. These bags are now available in a multitude of colours and fabrics and you can even spec your own bag on their website.
You can make choices such as the colours for the left, centre and right panels, the logo colour, the lining colour, whether it is a left or right hand bag and several other options. The bags are created with a ballistic nylon exterior and waterproof lining and they also have several different styles of bag such as the Classic Messenger Bag and the Laptop Messenger Bag.
Timbuk2 Laptop Messenger Bag
A fine example of a Timbuk2 laptop bag is the D-Lux Messenger Racing Stripe. Available in 7 colour combinations and three sizes this funky bag features a True Fit cam buckle, secret pockets, cross strap for stabilization whilst cycling and a fast racing stripe. The material used is their Durable Ballistic fabric with a waterproof TPU liner. Your laptop is protected in its own sleeve which is studded for extra protection.
The True Fit cam buckle is simple to unclick and locks back in the correct position for a comfortable fit every time. A three zip front organiser keeps all your small items in check and a side entry pocket allows easy access to cash or keys. These laptop bags also feature an internal modular organisation system to help with easy storage of gadgets and other items. A D-Lux with racing stripe will set you back between £70 and £90 depending on the size you choose.
Timbuk2 Classic Messenger with Matrix & Covert Fabrics
For those who like to be easily seen after dark this bag is created with special fabrics which reflect light sources such as car headlights. Available in three colour combinations and one size, extra-large, this messenger uses a reflective covert centre panel and 3M reflective material hidden behind a monofilament weave. So not only does the centre panel reflect light but the rest of the bag does too!
With all the usual cool features of a Timbuk2 bag plus the additional reflective safety features this bag is a real winner. The fabrics used to create the reflective panels do not come so cheap however and this messenger will cost you around £130. You are paying the extra for safety features though so really it is well worth it.
You can buy pads for the shoulder strap to make it more comfortable if you travel with a heavy load onboard and you can also buy items such as a two way radio pouch and even a Beerdaleer to carry a can of beer with you on your strap! You can always find out many more details about these messenger bags on the Timbuk2 website and you can order custom bags direct from their store.
